Painting Services Inside and Out
Painting is one of those services where people think they can do it themselves – and then they realize how much work it actually is. We paint interiors and exteriors all over Wilmington, and we’ve learned some tricks over the years for dealing with our climate.
Exterior Painting That Lasts
Exterior paint in Wilmington needs to stand up to intense sun, salt air, and moisture. We use paints specifically rated for coastal areas, and we always properly prep surfaces before painting. That means scraping off loose paint, fixing any wood damage, priming bare spots, and making sure everything is clean and dry before we start.
KDD Construction has painted homes from Wrightsville Beach to Castle Hayne, and we know what products hold up best here. Cheap paint might save you money upfront, but it’ll start peeling and fading within a couple years. We use quality exterior paints that come with real warranties and actually last in our climate.
We paint siding, trim, shutters, doors, deck railings, and fences. Before we paint anything, we power wash to remove dirt and mildew (theres always mildew in Wilmington), then we do a full inspection for any wood rot or damage that needs fixing first. Painting over rotted wood is just throwing money away – it’ll look good for a few months and then start peeling again.
Our exterior painting process includes caulking gaps where water can get in, replacing any damaged boards, sanding rough spots, priming bare wood and metal, and applying two coats of premium paint. We also protect your landscaping, windows, and walkways with drop cloths so nothing gets splattered.
Interior Painting for Every Room
Interior painting seems simple until your trying to paint a room thats 15 feet high (like alot of the older homes around here have), or your dealing with textured walls, or you need to match an existing color exactly. We do it all the time, so what takes a homeowner a whole weekend we can usually finish in a day.
We paint living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms, hallways, closets – basically any room in your house. We’ve also painted commercial spaces, rental properties, and offices throughout Wilmington.
Color matching is one thing people always struggle with when they try to paint themselves. You patch a spot on the wall and repaint it, but it doesn’t quite match even though you used the same color. That’s because paint fades over time, specially in rooms with alot of sunlight. We know how to blend new paint so it matches existing walls, or we can just repaint the whole room for a fresh uniform look.
Our interior painting includes moving furniture (or working around it), taping off trim and ceilings, filling nail holes and cracks, light sanding, priming when needed, and cleaning up completely when were done. We use low-VOC paints for interior work so your house doesn’t smell like paint fumes for days afterward.
We also paint cabinets, which is a great way to update your kitchen without spending thousands on new cabinets. It takes more prep work than painting walls – all the grease and grime has to come off first, and cabinets need special primers and paints to hold up to constant use. But the results are worth it.
